After ten years working for local planning authorities in London, Kent and Somerset, Nigel moved to the private sector to become a Director of a firm of rural surveyors in the West Country before founding Salmon Planning Company in 1998. He has a degree in Geography and Town Planning and has been a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 1978. Nigel has an excellent reputation for achieving positive outcomes for clients in planning appeals and judicial reviews. 
 

Dan has a degree in Human Geography and a Masters in Town and Country Planning.  He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Dan joined Salmon Planning in 2018, having gained a wide range of planning experience and risen to the rank of Principal Planning Officer. Dan spent 14 years in total in Development Management for a Local Authority in Somerset and is known for his sound approach to planning challenges and approachable manner.
 

​With a Masters in Planning from Plymouth University, Dean's 21-year career in Local Government has spanned Housing, Regeneration and Planning. After beginning his career with Birmingham City Council, he spent five years in Planning Policy at Mid Devon District Council where he was involved in the preparation of local plans. Then followed eight years with Sedgemoor District Council. Dean's most recent role was as Principal Planning Officer/Team Leader at Somerset Council. 

A fully qualified Architect with over 20 years’ experience, Matt heads up the Architecture & Design side of Salmon Planning, fostering creativity and excellence within the team. Matt has called Somerset his home since 2012, after working at practices in Manchester and London. Since moving to Somerset, Matt has delivered a number of successful private houses and residential schemes. With a strong ability in dissecting complex design issues and generating creative, practical solutions, his portfolio showcases a number of award-winning designs that highlight his commitment to enhancing the built environment while honouring the unique context of each project. 
 

Enrique is an ARB Registered Architect and has been working in the UK for seven years. He graduated from the University of Navarra and has previously worked as an Architect in Spain, covering a range of sectors. He joined Salmon Planning Company in 2017 and brings with him his skills in contemporary architecture and urban design to the practice. Enrique has recently qualified as an accredited On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) and has a particular interest in Retrofitting.

Jack is an experienced CAD technician and produces accurate measured building survey plans and layout designs. He has worked in the design team since 2017.

Judith (Jude) is a self-described 'old school' secretary with 36 years of experience in the energy efficiency, building construction and agricultural sectors.  The last 22 years have been spent at Salmon Planning where her forte is providing client care (after application submission); bookkeeping/payroll and general all-round support to the Team.

Venetia is a highly experienced administrative professional with over 30 years' experience within the private and public sectors spanning the legal, medical and property professions. She loves art and design as well as travelling, having lived in Dublin, Bermuda, Australia and New Zealand, before settling in rural Somerset. Venetia is often the first point of contact with Salmon clients and provides PA/Secretarial support to the Planning Directors.

Having worked in the world of finance in the City of London and in Wealth Management in Exeter, Jane is qualified in Project Management as well as in Digital Marketing. Using this skillset, Jane focuses on business development and the management of Salmon's marketing. Fascinated by the complex processes of Planning and Architecture, she enjoys compiling our regular blogs and digital marketing posts.

A Chartered Town Planner, Ralph brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked with local authorities' planning teams in London. He now specialises in property development across the UK and provides the Salmon Planning Team with valued advice on  strategic housing and employment sites.

Molly joined Salmon Planning in October 2023 to act as Wellbeing and Fitness Mentor. From a long line of Somerset labradors, with a hefty dose of Highgrove House from Dad, Molly has ensured that the office abounds with calm and laughter, all vital ingredients for the Team’s health and wellbeing.
